Inspiring Circular Thinking at Fontys
Last week, Sock by Sock had the opportunity to contribute to the Minor Circulaire Economie at Fontys Hogeschool Economie en Communicatie in Eindhoven.
During the kick-off session, our co-founder Eric Roosen delivered a presentation focused on circular entrepreneurship, system change and the mindset required to move from theory to action.
The session reflected the core pillars of Sock by Sock and demonstrated how circularity begins long before a product is designed: it begins with perspective.
Students were invited to take one simple action: wear unequal socks.
A Simple Action, A Powerful Metaphor
By consciously choosing mismatched socks, students challenged the idea that everything must be symmetrical, perfect, and βthe way it has always been.β
That small disruption reflects exactly what circular economy requires: the courage to break patterns.
When we rethink everyday habits, we open the door to rethinking larger systems.
From Awareness to Innovation
Circular solutions demand more than technical knowledge. They require mindset change.
If we are willing to challenge conventions in small ways, we become more capable of redesigning supply chains, reducing waste streams, and creating business models where sustainability and profitability reinforce each other.
We sincerely thank Fontys for creating space for dialogue, experimentation, and forward-thinking entrepreneurship.
