Educating the Future
On December 1st, our partner Frank Hulstoff gave a presentation on sustainability at HZ University of Applied Sciences in Vlissingen. The session reflected all of Sock by Sock’s core pillars and marked our second consecutive year presenting Sock by Sock to students at this university.
Our first pillar is to Educate. Sock by Sock aims to create impact by educating younger generations about the harms of overproduction and showing how simple actions can be part of the solution. We strive to help current and future entrepreneurs understand that sustainable goals and profitable business models can go hand in hand.
Frank brought our second pillar Challenge to life during the presentation. The session challenged common assumptions around sustainability. Using real-life examples from our own work, he highlighted what overproduction really looks like and how waste is not just a by product but a choice. Therefore brands and consumers carry a responsibility to keep our planet safe and well.

Turning impact into mindset
We also shared how Sock by Sock turns ideas into action through our Share pillar. By buying up overstock and surplus production within the footwear industry and redistributing socks, we showed how business decisions can directly create social impact.
At the same time, the presentation highlighted our Revolutionize pillar. By reframing mismatched socks as a conscious and fashionable choice, we showed how a new mindset can prevent unnecessary waste. Instead of discarding socks when one is lost or damaged, Sock by Sock encourages people to see value in every single sock. Each sock deserves to be worn to its full potential, rather than ending up in landfill.
Do not just wear socks. Wear change. #SOCKBYSOCK.
