Kicking Off the Week of Circularity — One Sock at a Time
The Week of Circularity opened with inspiration and action at the Tiliander Theater in Oisterwijk. The event featured a compelling talk by Helga van Leur ☀️, a renowned Dutch meteorologist, TV personality, and a passionate advocate for sustainable consumer choices.
One of the key takeaways from her presentation? Simple, practical ways to break free from mass consumption. A theme that fits perfectly with the mission of Sock by Sock.
Sock by Sock Takes the Stage
During the event, Eric Roosen , co-founder of Sock by Sock, presented the initiative Sock by Sock, NGO committed to promoting a circular economy and addressing overproduction in the fashion industry. Our initiative encourages individuals to challenge traditional norms by mixing and matching their socks, thereby reducing waste and making a sustainable fashion statement. We follow 3 pillars: educating, sharing and movement.
The message is bold and simple: stop throwing away perfectly good socks just because they don’t match. By mixing things up (literally) Sock by Sock encourages people to challenge outdated fashion norms, reduce textile waste, and make a statement for a more circular future.
Through these efforts, Sock by Sock is leading a “sock revolution,” encouraging people to rethink their consumption habits and embrace sustainability in everyday choices.
A Gift with Purpose
After the session, Helga received the official Sock by Sock gift box, a small token representing a much bigger vision: a future where fashion is circular, and overproduction is out of style.
What about you?
We’d love to hear it: What’s one small change you’ve made (or want to make) to fight overconsumption or embrace circular thinking in your daily life?
